"The Seminoles' bad beat jackpot occurs when at least four 10s loses to an even better hand. The Seminole Casinos pull $1 from each pot of $10 or greater at the poker rooms in six Seminole casinos: Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Hollywood, Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Tampa, Seminole Casino Coconut Creek, Seminole Casino Immokalee, Seminole Casino Brighton, and Seminole Casino Hollywood." quoted from http://articles.orlandosentinel.com/2011-01-09/news/os-bad-beat-poker-jackpot-tampa-010911_1_poker-rooms-poker-players-prize-pool the article caught my eye because it was 2 women splitting a massive jackpot.

Being only an occasional live player, I was left with these questions after reading this article. Is pulling money from pots for specific jackpots a normal practice? Will all these special features be posted at each poker room some where and if so where? Man, what else do I "not know"?

So what i found was that a casino /card room takes a "rake" (5-10% of the pot) or in higher stakes takes "time" (a predetermined amount for time per seat) at a table. California says that the drop for each pot has to be fixed according to the betting limits at the table
That (at hard rock) the jackpot tables are specific and labled, that any pot with a rake over 10 dollars qualifies (so the pot would have to be over 100-200 dollars)/at least 4 players in the hand/both hands must use their hole cards to make a higher than quad 10s hand for the bad beat option to be in effect. still no reference of any monies/fees taken out seperate from the rake. The article i found that info in said to call the casino for info on special jackpots. So i guess i'll do that.
My main thought here, When i sit down a a live table how can i be sure I know all the info I need to know about that table? Is there a document that I need to ask and what is it's name? I have only played live tournaments and working my courage up to play a 1/2 table....just learned Florida has a max buyin of 100 dollars...so that's definately a do-able risk ....I need to get my feet wet on my next trip to the casino. But , Is there something more I should know before sitting at the table?
